The Terms.
Plainly Stated.
The rules for using primalkodex.com and the writing on it. Short where it can be, specific where it has to be. Using the site means you accept them, so they are worth five minutes.
The Short Version
What matters most, in four lines. The numbered terms below are the ones that count.
Is this medical advice?
No. It is philosophy and education. Talk to a qualified professional before you change your diet, training or medication.
Can I share the writing?
Yes. Share links freely and quote short passages with credit. Do not republish whole pieces or sell them.
Do links earn money?
A few affiliate links can earn a commission. Every one is disclosed where it appears, and none is there because it pays.
What about The Primal Table?
The cohort is covered by the Participant Agreement each man accepts before paying. Not by these terms.

01These terms
These terms cover primalkodex.com and the free material on it: the pages, the email list and The Subtraction Kodex.
The site is run by Spencer James Dearing, an individual in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada, doing business as The Primal Kodex ("we," "us").
Using the site means you accept these terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not accept them, do not use the site.
The essays at primalkodex.substack.com are also subject to Substack's own terms.
02The Primal Table
These terms do not cover The Primal Table cohort.
Every man who joins receives the Participant Agreement and accepts it before paying. That agreement governs payment, the guarantee, health, and conduct in the cohort.
On anything to do with the cohort, the Participant Agreement applies, not these terms.
03Not medical advice
Everything published by The Primal Kodex, on this site, on Substack, in the emails and in the books, is education and philosophy. It is not medical, psychological, nutritional, legal or financial advice.
Spencer James Dearing is an author. He is not a licensed physician, dietitian, psychologist or other regulated health professional, and nothing here should be read as if he were.
Talk to a qualified health professional who knows your history before you change your diet, training, fasting, supplements or medication. Never ignore professional advice, or delay seeking it, because of something you read here.
Some practices discussed here, including elimination diets, animal-based eating, heavy training, fasting, cold exposure and deep meditation, carry real risk for some people. If you try them, that is your decision and your responsibility.
Experiences described here, Spencer's included, are not a promise of what will happen for you.
04The law where you live
Some writing discusses substances and practices whose legal status differs from place to place and changes over time.
Discussing a subject is not encouraging anyone to break the law. You are responsible for following the laws where you live.
05Copyright
The essays, the books (The Gut Friendly Lifestyle Guide and Mental Factor: Become Your Own Master), The Subtraction Kodex, and the text, graphics and design of this site are © Spencer James Dearing. All rights reserved.
Photography and illustration credited to others remains theirs.
"The Primal Kodex," the Kodex spelling, the pillar names, the bindrune sigil and the motto Virtus · Veritas · Libertas are trademarks of Spencer James Dearing. Do not use them in a way that suggests we endorse or are connected to something we are not.
06What you may do
Read, save and print pages for your own personal use.
Share links to any public page, anywhere.
Quote short passages in your own work, with credit to Spencer James Dearing and The Primal Kodex and, online, a link back.
Search engines and AI answer engines may index, summarise and cite public pages, as set out in our robots.txt.
07What you may not do without written permission
Republish whole essays or chapters, or large parts of them, anywhere.
Sell, license or charge for access to any of it, or use it in a paid course or program.
Present it, or a lightly reworded version of it, as your own.
Copy the site in bulk, or post a private link, such as the page The Subtraction Kodex is delivered on, anywhere public.
If you want to do something not covered here, ask. The answer is often yes.
08Acceptable use
Do not use the site to break the law, to get into systems or accounts that are not yours, to interfere with how the site runs, to harvest anyone's personal information, to sign anyone else up for email without their consent, or to impersonate The Primal Kodex.
We may block anyone who does.
09Email and free material
Free material, such as The Subtraction Kodex, is for your personal use. We may change, pause or stop any of it at any time.
Every email has a one-click unsubscribe. How your address is handled is in the Privacy Policy.
10Affiliate links and other sites
Some links are affiliate links. Buy through one and The Primal Kodex may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Every one is disclosed where it appears, following the Competition Bureau of Canada's guidance and the US Federal Trade Commission's Endorsement Guides.
Nothing is recommended because it pays, and nothing is recommended that is not personally used.
A purchase through any outside link, including a book from a retailer, is between you and that seller, on their terms.
We link to outside sites worth reading. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, their availability or how they treat your information.
11Messages you send
If you write to us with ideas or suggestions, we are free to use them without owing anything for them.
We never publish your name, your words or your story without asking you first and getting a clear yes.
12No guarantees
The site and everything on it are provided "as is" and "as available."
Content is written with care and corrected when errors are found, but we do not guarantee it is complete, current or error-free, that the site will always be available, or that anything described will produce a particular result for you.
To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all other warranties, express or implied.
13Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Spencer James Dearing and The Primal Kodex are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any injury, illness or loss, arising from your use of the site, its content, or any outside site or product it links to.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you for any claim about the site is limited to one hundred Canadian dollars (CAD $100).
Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under consumer protection law that cannot legally be limited.
14Indemnity
If you misuse the site or break these terms and someone brings a claim against us because of it, you agree to cover the reasonable costs that result, including legal fees.
15Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
Any dispute goes to the courts of British Columbia, unless the consumer protection law where you live gives you the right to bring it somewhere else.
Before anything formal, write to us. Most problems are faster to fix in a direct conversation.
16Changes and the rest
We may update these terms. When we do, the date at the top changes and the new version applies from the moment it is posted.
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still stands.
If we do not enforce a term right away, we have not given it up.
These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about the site.
